'R.E.M' singer Michael Stipe has at last denied the age-old speculation of his sexual relations with Kurt Cobain in the 90's.

Stipe put an end to the rumor.  "Let's set the record straight on Page Six. Kurt was a really sweet man, and we never had sex. All right? There's your exclusive," The New York Post quoted the singer as saying.

jared leto tribute to kurt cobain

30 Seconds to Mars frontman Jared Leto has once again combined his musical and theatrical skills, this time in a tribute to Kurt Cobain. In a post to his official blog, Leto showed off a video in which he performs several Nirvana songs dressed to look like the late grunge icon.
"I heard today was the day Kurt passed away 17 years ago. Can't believe it's been that long. So grateful for his contribution and inspiration. Not sure I'd be doing this if it  weren't for him. He gave us all permission to create no matter what our skill set and reminded me that dreams are possible," he wrote in a post that accompanied the video. He adds, "Thanks for that. This made me recall a short piece of film I shot when I heard they were making a film celebrating his life. I made it to explore the character and explore creative possibilities. I never sent it to the studio or to anyone but thought I'd share it now . . ."

nirvana exhibition

Pieces of the first guitar Nirvana's Kurt Cobain destroyed onstage will be included in a new exhibition about the band in Seattle.

Shards of the Univox Hi-Flyer guitar will be among the 200 band artifacts to be featured in the exhibition, called 'Nirvana: Taking Punk To The Masses'.

The show will also feature the yellow cardigan Cobain often wore between 1991 and 1994, handwritten lyrics to 'Spank Thru' and 'Floyd The Barber' and the winged angel stage prop featured on the band’s 'In Utero' tour.

The exhibition will run from  16-22 April 2011 at the Experience Music Project in the band’s hometown.

Bassist Krist Novoselic said: "It’s great that there will soon be a collection that celebrates [Cobain’s] contribution to music and culture."

He added: "There’s a story with Nirvana at its centre, but it’s a story that also includes the many people, bands and institutions that make up a music community."

A 250 page book, Taking Punk to The Masses: From Nowhere To Nevermind is also being planned to be published by Fantagraphics Books in conjunction with the exhibition.

courtney love and kurt cobain's ashes

A music journalist has revealed that Courtney Love wanted to snort Kurt Cobain's ashes.

According to writer Neil Strauss, the 'Hole' singer suggested they inhale her dead husband's remains during a bizarre interview.

"She was serious when she made the suggestion. She actually said she would offer his ashes to me first to snort and then said she would like them," the Daily Telegraph quoted Strauss as telling RadarOnline.com.

Courtney's strange request is revealed in Strauss' tell-all book 'Everyone Loves You When You Are Dead' which also includes details of conversations he's had with stars including Lady Gaga, Madonna and Britney Spears.

In the book, Neil writes of how the blonde rocker - who was married to Nirvana frontman Kurt until his death in 1994 - 'introduced' him to her husband before confessing she desired to snort his ashes.

He wrote: "She walks to a dresser, pulls open a drawer, and removes a square-shaped tin. She removes the lid, revealing a plastic bag full of white ashes. A faint smell of jasmine emanates from the tin.

"LOVE: Too bad you don't do coke. Otherwise I'd suggest taking a metal straw to it.

"STRAUSS: Yeah, I don't think that would be the right thing to do.

"LOVE: I'd like to though."
